Meet Dr. Michael Abood
My story with chiropractic starts long before I can remember. My uncle/Godfather was a chiropractor, so I was fortunate enough to be under chiropractic care as soon as I was born. Yes…babies get adjusted. Throughout my life, I have been fortunate to have access to chiropractic care, and it helped shaped me into who I am today.
Growing up, I spent a lot of time playing various sports, yet I never sustained a serious injury. And with any minor injury that I suffered, I was able to bounce back quickly so that I never missed a game due to injury. I believe regular chiropractic care is what helped me stay healthy throughout those years as an athlete. I have been blessed to have access to this care regularly, but it wasn’t until 2015 that I really understood how powerful chiropractic can be. This is when I learned that with chiropractic, we tap into the body’s most powerful system–the nervous system, controlled by the brain, spinal cord and the nerves.
My Education as a Chiropractor
I did my undergraduate work in southwest Ohio at Miami University where I graduated in 2016 with a degree in Kinesiology. I was fairly certain that I wanted to be a chiropractor, but to be 100% sure, I went on another visit to Life University in Marietta, Georgia, the summer before my senior year at Miami. This weekend at Life was incredible and exposed me to the wellness and vitalism paradigm. This paradigm is one that is focused on not only adding years to your life, but more importantly adding LIFE to your years. To me, that was such a profound way of looking at health care and human potential…and I was hooked! The following year, I packed up my car and drove down to Georgia. I enrolled in chiropractic school at Life University where I graduated in 2020.
I joined Dr. Paul Bizjak and the team here at Optimal Spine and Wellness in January of 2021, and I look forward to serving the people of northeast Ohio.
A Little About Me
I was born and raised here in northeast Ohio. I grew up playing all different kinds of sports: hockey, baseball, soccer, football, lacrosse, golf, etc. You name it, I probably tried it. Hockey was (and still is) my favorite sport. I started playing when I was 4 years old, and I still play to this day. I love being outside in nature and being active. When I’m not active playing sports, you’ll probably find me watching sports. I love all of our Cleveland sports teams.
What Drives Me
The people. I want to help and serve as many people as I can. I know how chiropractic has influenced my life. I know how amazing this profession is, and I want to share it with as many people as possible. So many people today live with pain and discomfort because they think it’s “normal.” They’ll take a quick pain reliever like Advil, Tylenol, etc. and feel good for a few hours, and then that pain comes right back. They are not addressing the root cause of their pain and discomfort. By improving spinal function and mobility, we are able to relieve the pressure on the nerve being affected and let the greatest healer in the history of the world take over- The Human Nervous System.
The most amazing part is that the power of the nervous system is not just limited to pain and pain relief. The nervous system controls all of our body’s functions. By improving communication between the nervous system and the rest of the body, we are able to improve the body as a whole. The ultimate benefit of this is unquantifiable.
